A Mi Me Encanta La Playa

Last weekend, we Sevilla kids reunited with some London kids (there were 10 of us in total) for a beach weekend in Lagos, Portugal. Lagos is BEAUTIFUL and the town is so quaint, it was hard NOT to have an amazing time. We all stayed at a really fun hostel, a few minute's walk from the beach, and we even got to stay in a little apartment that was part of the hostel because there were so many of us. We are now all obsessed with Mama, our Portuguese mother who made us crepes every morning. We are now (well, ok, mostly me) obsessed with Nah Nah Bah, a bar/cafe that is across the street from the hostel and owned by the same people. We ate dinner there one night and the food was FABULOUS.. I had a deliciously fresh salad with REAL GREEN GREENS (a very rare commodity in Spain, at least in this apartment) with strawberries, goat cheese, orange slices, and pure yummy-ness overall. Janette and I also shared a hummus plate, which was FAB as well. And, of course, we went to the beach and I magically didn't get burned!! (Probably due to my SPF 70 sunscreen, not magic.) We also took a boat ride, which started off really fun, but then the waters were very rough and we all were ready to get on dry land soon!!! But, overall, it was an amazing weekend and I am dying to go back some day!!















What's next? you may be asking yourself.. well... a week more of Sevilla and then I'm off to Barcelona, Vienna, and Prague with my friend Erica (who's coming from the States to travel with me).

Los Pueblos Blancos y Granada

My parents visited Spain last week, visiting Madrid and Barcelona before they came to Sevilla, where their darling daughter is, for 4 nights. (My mom told me that I was just an excuse for them to come to Spain, but I think-hope they just really missed my amazing self.) It was really awesome to see them (and stay with them in a sweet apartment right next to the cathedral!!). It was really nice because the first night they were here, we had a Passover sedar at the apartment of the American family living here, who I know because they are family friends with my California cousins. There are basically/literally no Jews in Sevilla (my senora actually asked me: Why are you Jewish?), so it was really special to be able to celebrate a Jewish holiday here. We also discovered this delicious Cuban restaurant called Habanita and we ended up eating there TWICE. And, of course, I made sure that they got to see my favorite sites in Sevilla: the cathedral, the alcazar, the river, and Parque Maria Luisa. I miss them already!!!! One of the days they were visiting, we took a trip (with Norah too) to "los Pueblos Blancos" near-ish to Sevilla:









A few weekends ago, I went on a free school trip to Granada with Norah, Alicia, and a bunch of other cool kids from Sevilla. Granada was awesome, and I especially loved seeing Ce, our friend from Ithaca who is studying there. He is so friendly, so he basically knows everyone in the city of Granada, so he took us to the best places. We went to an arabic tetaria, where we had the best tea in a really awesome atmosphere. We also ate shwarmas (I had falafal with veggies and goat cheese) that were quite literally to die for.. (If you didn't know already, traveling around Europe has made me more obsessed with food than ever, if that is even possible.) Of course, we also saw the famous sites of the cathedral (where a ton of Spanish royalty are buried) and the Alhambra on the hill. Here are some pictures:

















And, by the way, the graffiti with the orange face says "I am looking for the path to continue my dreams" and the graffiti with the black writing says "I am not the woman of your life because I am the woman of my own." They had so much cool graffiti art in Granada!

Now I'm off to Lagos, Portugal for a weekend at the beach!
